Clarke Detroit Diesel-Allison, Inc's St. Louis branch has chosen Horton's House residential Care Facility to receive a charitable contribution. Mark Andreae, President & CEO, traveled from the corporate headquarters in Cincinnati to present the check to Horton's House on September 29, 1999. Horton's House provides temporary and long-term placement for children, ages newborn to nine years old, who have experienced physical or sexual abuse. They also provide for children who have experienced emotional/mental and educational neglect.

Horton's House is unique in their provisions because they strive to operate in a family like atmosphere, unlike and institution. Horton's House strives to assist families to improve the quality of their lives and ultimately deter child abuse.

The donation provided by Clarke DD-A, will be used for items such as commercial bedroom furniture, infant and toddler cribs and mattresses, bedding, personal hygeine items, clothing and school supplies. It will also allow children to participate in community-based activities. Additional items may include computers, indoor tricycles, tape recorder, VCR/television and chairs and tables for the new recreation center.

This donation is given as a gift from all associates of Clarke Detroit Diesel-Allison, Inc. In addition to the contribution from all associates the associates at the St. Louis branch donated 25 pairs of new shoes. The shoes were supplied through Larry McGreal's (St. Louis CSRs) son, Scott McGreal. Scott works for a shoe company out of Seattle, Washington.
