This three day course includes classroom lectures and practical hands on exercises for the MBE 4000 engine.

  • Demonstrate how to navigate the Power Service Literature
  • Discuss the location for design and manufacture of the MBE 4000 engine
  • Discuss the OM designation vs MBE 4000
  • Identify the serial number locations
  • Identify the fuel system flow
  • Identify the cooling system flow
  • Identify the oil system flow
  • Identify the air intake system flow
  • Identify the EGR system flow
  • Discuss draining fuel from the secondary fuel filter housing
  • Discuss draining the oil filter housing
  • Discuss replacing the jumper fuel lines (SB)
  • Demonstrate how to remove the connector pipe with the slide hammer
  • Demonstrate how to remove the injector with the slide hammer
  • Demonstrate how to mark the position and remove the unit pumps
  • Only loosen the bolts first, the unit pumps may be on the top of the lobe and be under pressure
  • Demonstrate how to mark and remove the cylinder heads
  • Discuss using a bar type lift chain or lift adapters bolted to the engine block to remove or lift the engine
  • Explain how lifting the engine from the front hook may pull the water pump off the block
  • Demonstrate how to remove the front balancer using the flywheel holding tool
  • Discuss the necessity of removing the oil pan before removing the front cover and flywheel cover
